Another one of my favorites! This one took me ages to finish due to the amount of detailing on the wings as well as the general design.
Essentially, this one was part of a series of sketches where I made up characters who were wearing animal "costumes" (there are 2 more, 1 with a lion and the other is a goat). Anyways, it's sorta like how Shamans would wear the skin of lions and stuff. In this case, she wore the "skins" of a giant raven. Anyways, this picture is pretty old (2003) so the *technical* stuff may not be as good as some of my newer pieces (the outlines of certain places where it should be dark - my art professor totally bashed it, calling it the "halo effect") and a slightly awkward arm. I just love this piece mostly for the design elements.
your welcome.. did an art teacher tell you that it was missing something?? because he/she is crazy. i would be able to speak if i saw my student do this let alone critique it.
He was complaining about how there's white area around certain parts of the piece (which ought to be shadowed places) - which I actually agree, but at the time, I was sticking to comic book styles where they do that ALOT! LOL! And then he also complains about how "unmeaningful" it is...(he's an abstraction freak - *cough* can't draw stick figures *cough*). Haha!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have you ever wondered what something meant as far as Photography goes? Things like "Cable Release", "AEB", "C-41", "Neutral density filter", and "Polarizer"? The photonotes.org Dictionary of Film and Digital Photography is one place to stop and get it all answered. This is quite a valuable resource that explains in depth what a photography term means, and will help those understand who might not know what something is.
